2008 split tour comes to a close

Birmingham Royal Ballet's tour of the North, East and South-West draws to a close this week, with final shows in York and Truro.

David Bintley spoke about the tour earlier in the year, and of Twilight, Hans van Manen's battle of the sexes. 'Historically, we've had very strong links with van Manen,' David explained, 'We did a lot of his work, and I remember seeing Twilight when I was a student.'

'I like to bring things back from our past, creating a sense of ownership of our history, which I feel is vital. Many of the pieces we've performed on these split tours have been made for the Company. But unless you retain a living part of them in some small way, then you forget that.'
