2009-10 season announced
09 April 2009
Birmingham Royal Ballet this week announces its 2009/10 Season, unveiling plans for special celebrations for the Company's 20th year in Birmingham and a new ballet by David Bintley.
In a joint statement, Director David Bintley and Chief Executive Christopher Barron said: 'Having made Birmingham Hippodrome its home since 1990, Birmingham Royal Ballet aims to provide the very best, high-quality entertainment and to ensure that its programmes remain interesting and varied, for audiences of all ages and communities.
'We hope you will agree that in the next year we have achieved just that: the season includes a new work by Garry Stewart, Director of Australian Dance Theatre, and E=mc˛, a dynamic collaboration between David Bintley and Australian composer Matthew Hindson, along with much-loved classics and traditional family favourites.
'In the 20 years since it arrived in Birmingham, the Company has gone from strength to strength and is now rightly recognised as a major international force in the world of classical dance.
'During our 20th anniversary year, the Company will be staging a number of events to celebrate its achievements and to showcase some of the highlights of our repertoire. You will see in the spring of 2010, three gala performances of works close to our hearts which give an insight into why this Company has become so special to its loyal audience and why the people of Birmingham have taken us to their hearts.'
Details of season tickets, offering a discount of 25% when you book for all programmes in the season, will be available here on the Birmingham Royal Ballet website from 30 April.
