Programme 4After 18 months of hard work and heartache, the Big Night finally arrives. With an audience of over 2,000, the young people of the Ballet Hoo! Company join the professionals of Birmingham Royal Ballet in an extraordinary performance of the powerful classic, Romeo and Juliet, with Kenneth Macmillan's choreography to Prokofiev's famous music. There are last-minute cast changes - and an astonishing promotion. Before the excitement of the show, the teenagers reflect on the way their attitudes to ballet, and in many cases to their lives, have profoundly changed. And so the tights must go on, the huge orchestra plays, the curtain rises, and, with exhilaration and trepidation, they must now dance - with discipline and inspiration, with precision and emotional truth... |
Note: A number of people have contacted Birmingham Royal Ballet enquiring if they can purchase a DVD of the television series. The answer regrettably is that the documentary was produced, and copyright is owned, by Diverse TV and Channel 4, and at present they have no plans to produce a DVD of the series.
