Remembering Birmingham Royal Ballet in your willA growing number of our audience are pledging future support by remembering Birmingham Royal Ballet in their wills. You too could provide a lasting legacy and ensure that the inspiration and enjoyment the Company has given you will continue for future generations. If you make a bequest to Birmingham Royal Ballet you can request that it will be used to support your own special interests or wishes. These might include: • New productions or choreography • Education and outreach work • A performance in your memory • Upkeep and maintenance of Birmingham Royal Ballet's home Making a willIt is best to make a will with the guidance of a solicitor; it can cost as little as £50. By making a will you are ensuring that your property and possessions are distributed according to your wishes. Dying without a will (intestate) may mean you leave your spouse and immediate family financially insecure. If you have no family, and leave no will, the state decides how your possessions are distributed. You could leave a specific bequest of an item or items, a pecuniary bequest of a sum of money or a residuary bequest (the remainder, or a proportion of the remainder, of your estate after other gifts and debts have been honoured). It is worth noting that a gift to any charity, including Birmingham Royal Ballet, is exempt from inheritance tax. It is possible to change your will at any time. If you have already made a will and would like it to include a bequest to Birmingham Royal Ballet, it is probably simplest to add a codicil, a statement on a separate piece of paper of your wish to amend the original terms of your will. Your signature on the codicil must be witnessed by two non-beneficiaries. Your solicitor will be able to help you with this. |
