Further new choreography for 2007
December 21, 2006
In addition to the premiere of David Bintley's Cyrano, and a weekend of special performances of works by dancers from the Company, two more BRB creations are also due to make their debuts in 2007.
As part of BRB's split tour, where half of the Company tour the North East while the other half tour the South West, Birmingham Royal Ballet will be presenting new works by both Director David Bintley, and Artist Kit Holder.
Although both pieces are as yet untitled, Kit will be choreographing to Stravinsky's Concerto in D, while David has chosen as a score one of his favourite styles of music: jazz, this time by Dave Brubeck.
This will be the fourth jazz piece that David has choreographed for Birmingham Royal Ballet, the other three being The Shakespeare Suite, The Nutcracker Sweeties, and The Orpheus Suite.
Kit last choreographed for the Company in 2004, as part of The Planets, a collaborative work that saw different members of the Company each take on one of the movements from Holst's famous piece of music. They were joined by Rosie Kay, a contemporary choreographer, who provided steps for Mars.
Kit's work will be performed on the northern leg of the tour, while David's piece will head south. Tickets for some performances are already on sale, with details available by clicking here. Details of the weekend of performances of works by BRB dancers can also be found here. |
