John Craxton oversees Daphnis and Chloë amends
August 20, 2007
Daphnis and Chloë designer John Craxton is working with the Company to make technical amends to his original sets for the ballet.
The designs, revived by the Royal Ballet for recent performances of the piece, will be readdressed to improve the design and to make them suitable for the variety of stage sizes on the forthcoming autumn tour.
Larger sets are typically built in interlocking component parts so that sections can be added or removed easily without compromising the integrity of the original design. The Capulet's ball in Romeo and juliet can be narrowed by removing pillars from either side, while the balcony scene in Cyrano has optional additional railings for the wider venues.
Daphnis and Chloë is performed as part of the Strictly dancing programme which tours the UK this autumn. Click here for more on the tour and the pieces to be performed. |
