Desmond Kelly OBE Appointed as Artistic Director of Elmhurst

Elmhurst School for Dance today announced the appointment of Desmond Kelly, OBE, as its new Artistic Director. Currently Assistant Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, Desmond retires from the Company in July 2008 and will take up his new position at the School in September.

Desmond Kelly will replace Mary Goodhew who has accepted the post of Director at the Legat School of Dance in Sussex.

In making this announcement, The Elmhurst Board of Governors pay tribute to Mary’s professionalism, commitment and determination to nurture the high level of talent amongst the school faculty and students over the last four years.

This year, Elmhurst achieved great success in receiving outstanding results from the Council for Dance Education and Training, TrinityCollegeLondon and OfSTED and many students have joined acclaimed dance companies including The Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, Northern Ballet Theatre plus many European Companies.
