Desmond Kelly OBE Appointed as Artistic Director of Elmhurst

Birmingham Royal Ballet today confirmed the appointment of Desmond Kelly, OBE, as the new Artistic Director of Elmhurst School for Dance. Currently Assistant Director of Birmingham Royal Ballet, Desmond retires from the Company in July 2008 and will take up his new position at the School in September.

Desmond Kelly will replace Mary Goodhew who has accepted the post of Director at the Legat School of Dance in Sussex.

In making this announcement, The Elmhurst Board of Governors pay tribute to Mary’s professionalism, commitment and determination to nurture the high level of talent amongst the school faculty and students over the last four years.

Desmond Kelly's retirement from Birmingham Royal Ballet is being marked with a Gala evening on Saturday 28 June 2008.
