Birmingham Royal Ballet Nominated for a TMA Award15 October 2009 Pomp and Circumstances nominated in 'Achievement in Dance' category The Theatrical Management Association (TMA) has announced the nominations for their annual Theatre Awards and Birmingham Royal Ballet's Pomp and Circumstances has been nominated in the Achievement in Dance category. Pomp and Circumstances was performed in Birmingham and on tour throughout the country between February and April 2009 and a consisted of Serenade, Enigma Variations and ‘Still Life at the Penguin Café. The TMA Theatre and Management Awards celebrate the very best in British theatre, opera and dance. The unique awards recognise the achievements of artists and companies based throughout the United Kingdom. The awards champion the excellence and diversity of artistic activity and the high standard of professional, specialist work which contributes to and supports the success of the performing arts. Also nominated in the Achievement in Dance category are the Dancers of English National Ballet and Rambert Dance Company's production of HUSH. The Theatre Awards honour individual creative excellence and collaborative artistic effort in performance and production and applaud the outstanding work seen in regional theatres each year: work which contributes so much to the vibrant cultural life of the UK. The TMA Management Awards are the opportunity for theatre companies and venues to champion the skill and expertise of individuals working within their organisations and to promote their successful business initiatives and acumen. The awards will be presented at a ceremony, hosted by Nichola McAuliffe, at the Lyric Hammersmith on 1 November.
