Long-time supporter Christine talks here about her decision to leave Birmingham Royal Ballet a legacy in her Will.
"I first saw the Company in 1991 but it wasn’t until 1995 that I became a subscriber. I remember that Hobson’s Choice was one of the earliest shows I saw. In those days we had Laëtitia Müller and Monica Zamora but the quality and talent in the ranks has continued to grow and expand to this day. I joined the Friends in 1997, later joined the old Patron scheme and then moved on to David’s Director’s Appeal. My relationship with the Company has evolved over the years as I joined new initiatives that offered new opportunities. I like to meeting the younger dancers and gaining an insight into their careers. David nurtures their talent and I always appreciate hearing how they’ve been given opportunities on the stage that they wouldn’t have received elsewhere.
"Birmingham Royal Ballet has given me such pleasure over the years but just as important to me is the social aspect of supporting the Company. I have become friends with many like-minded people. I felt it was a natural step to leave a legacy to the Company. Since my career in musical theatre was cut short by injury, I have pledged a gift to the Jerwood Centre for Prevention and Treament of Dance Injuries. It’s a superb resource for the dancers and I know that my gift will ensure that artists receive the very best medical care.”
