Christmas season comes to a close
December 14, 2007
Birmingham Royal Ballet completed its current performances of The Nutcracker this week, with final shows on Thursday.
Chief Executive Chris Barron congratulated the Company on the season, saying:
'We have enjoyed many fine performances and debuts, and The Sinfonia has lifted the performances high with wonderful playing. It has been an incredibily smooth show technically, and the audiences, in big numbers, have seemed to be especially appreciative.'
In total, over 30,000 people walked through the Birmingham Hippodrome doors to watch Clara's magical journey. The piece was created in 1990 by Sir Peter Wright as a thankyou to the people of Birmingham for all of the warmth and support shown by the city when Birmingham Royal Ballet moved to the Midlands. Since then it has been performed approximately 350 times.
