Coppélia workshops for Birmingham and Salford primary schools, May-June 2011

During the 2011 summer term, the Department for Learning will be running a series of workshops based on Birmingham Royal Ballet's production of Coppélia for Primary schools in Salford (23–27 May 2011) and in Birmingham (6–10 June 2011).

Delivered by an experienced Birmingham Royal Ballet dance artist and accompanied by a pianist, each workshop will give an insight into the ballet’s themes, familiarising the participants with the ballet’s steps, and taking a look at performance skills..

The workshops are available for Year 1 - 3 pupils and sessions will be structured around the school’s timetable. Participating schools will receive up to three practical dance workshops with a maximum of 30 students in each class. There will also be a twilight teacher training workshop on the Monday evenings of each workshop week, 4.30-6.30pm.
