Choreographics participants confirmedFebruary 7, 2007 The dancers who will be choreographing for a weekend of performances in June 2007 have now been confirmed. The shows offer dancers the chance to showcase their creative skills on the Birmingham Hippodrome main stage, in front of a full audience. Those involved are also able to direct the costume and lighting design. Many works from previous projects have gone on to take a place in BRB's repertory, most notably Oliver Hindle's The Four Seasons. Returning to the stage in June as part of BRB's summer mixed bill, the work began life when different dancers were invited to choreograph one of the movements of Vivaldi's famous score. Hindle's section was so well received, he was invited back to provide movement for the complete score for the Company's 2004/05 season. The dancers taking part in this year's project are: First Soloist Kosuke Yamamoto, and Artists Samara Downs, Kit Holder, Jenny Murphy, Glyn Scott and Nathanael Skelton. Samara, Kit and Jenny all took part in the Company's last project of this type, The Planets, for which different members of BRB choreographed each of the movements of Holzt's famous suite. Kit Holder spoke of the last project recently, saying, 'That was a massive learning curve, but it was nice to be able to present a new work to an audience, and for everyone to see how much support the audience gave us in return'. With this year's project still in the early stages, there is as yet little indication of what audiences can expect. More information will be posted on the website as it becomes available, so be sure to check back soon. Click here to purchase seats for these performances (all tickets £10) |
