This year's Evening of Music and Dance will include the first-ever chance for UK audiences to see an excerpt from David Bintley's production of Aladdin.
The event will be held at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Saturday 20 February 2010, beginning at 7.30pm. The programme is made up of ballet music performed by Birmingham Royal Ballet's orchestra, the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, with appearances in danced excerpts by members of Birmingham Royal Ballet.
The Sinfonia will perform two pieces from Aladdin, one with a danced pas de deux.
David Bintley created Aladdin in 2008 for the National Ballet of Japan. The full-length fairytale ballet was created to a score by Carl Davis, who also composed the score for David's recent reworking of Cyrano, and until now has never been seen otuside of Japan.
