Japan 2008
07 December 2007
Birmingham Royal Ballet head East for the new year, with a set of dates in Japan in early January.
The Company performs Coppélia at two venues, and Director David Bintley's Beauty and the Beast at two venues. The tour lasts from 6 - 19 January. A full diary can be found at www.brb.org.uk/whatson.
Denis Bonner, Birmingham Royal Ballet's choreologist, who has been leading rehearsals, spoke of the amount of work involved. 'Over the past month, the dancers have had to learn a great deal of choreography,' he said. 'Beauty and the Beast and Coppélia for Japan, The Nutcracker for Birmingham, and they're also starting preparations for Swan Lake and the jazz pieces for the UK tour in early 2008. It's a very, very busy time, but these are great opportunities for the dancers.'
