New arrivals 2007
Birmingham Royal Ballet welcomes a series of new arrivals this season, who will be making their debuts with the Company throughout the autumn tour. Here's an outline of the new faces you'll be seeing this year.

Natasha Oughtred Soloist Born in East Yorkshire, Natasha joined the Royal Ballet Upper School in 1999 and the following year was a winner at the Adeline Genée Awards. She joins the Company from the Royal Ballet, where she began in 2000 before making soloist in 2005. The only new dancer at this level, Natasha is due to be performing solo roles in this autumn's performances of Paquita in Birmingham and on tour, as well as the lead female role in Ashton's Daphnis and Chloë.

Laura-Jane Gibson Artist Birmingham Royal Ballet audiences may well already be familiar with this graduate of Elmhurst School for Dance, who hails from Ayreshire, Scotland. The recent Ballet on the Buses project saw her join five other Birmingham Royal Ballet dancers to present a short piece on and around a vintage routemaster that toured Birmingham and the Midlands. For those wanting to see her on a regular stage, she'll be appearing as a shepherdess in Daphnis and Chloë this autumn, as well as dancing alongside the other new girls in Paquita

Yvette Knight Artist Yvette joins the Company from the Royal Ballet School, where she was a finalist in the Young British Dancer of the Year competition in 2006, earning the Sibley-Dowell award for a promising dancer. Currently in rehearsals for the autumn tour, audiences will be able to see her join the corps for Paquita, and for David Bintley's Edward II as a woman of the court of King Charles IV.

Callie Roberts Artist After studying dance for 13 years, while on a visit to see her sister (and current Birmingham Royal Ballet Soloist) Jenna, Callie took part in a dance class in London and was immediately offered a scholarship to the Royal Ballet School. She acheived a silver award in the 2004 Genee International dance awards, and graduated from the school this year. Audiences will be able to see her perform in Birmingham and on tour as part of this autumn's Strictly dancing.

Christopher Rodgers-Wilson Artist Christopher came to the Royal Ballet School from Australia, gaining a place in the second year of the upper school, skipping the first year of the course. Having graduated this year, Christopher makes a dramatic debut with Birmingham Royal Ballet this autumn, appearing as one of the Barons in David Bintley's Edward II.

Oliver Till Artist The only new arrival not from the UK or Australia, Oliver was born in Virginia, USA He trained at the Royal Ballet School, dancing as a student with the Royal Ballet in The Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker. He is currently rehearsing the Fauvel scene in Edward II, and will also appear as one of the villianous pirates in Daphnis and Chloë.
