Take Five costume rehearsals
Preparation for the premiere of David Bintley's new jazz work Take Five continued recently, with the first full rehearsal with the completed women's costumes. The men's outfits were still being finished, but dancers were instructed to turn up for rehearsals in polo-shirts and belted trousers, giving an indication of what to expect when the piece is performed for the first time as part of the current South West tour.
The tour, which takes in Truro, Poole and Cheltenham, will be the first opportunity for audiences to see the piece, choreographed to the Dave Brubeck Quartet's iconic saxophone-led score, before it is performed in Birmingham in March 2008 as part of a triple-bill of three one-act jazz pieces.
The recent rehearsal of the piece was also the first time that the musicians and the dancers had performed live together. Click on the thumbnails below to see images from the rehearsals, and visit www.brb.org.uk/sw2007.html for booking information and further details of the current South West tour.
EDIT: Take Five is now due to be performed as part of All that jazz in Birmingham, Oxford, Plymouth and Sunderland, and the 2008 tour of King's Lynn, Durham and York. Click the underlined links for full performance diaries.
