Julia Trevelyan Oman



Julia Trevelyan Oman studied at the Royal College of Art. Her designs for BBC television include Alice in Wonderland and Famous Gossips. She has designed for the West End, RNT, RSC, Chichester, Boston, Burgtheater, Vienna, New York, Canada, Hamburg State Opera, Kassel Opera, Stockholm, Glyndebourne Festival (Arabella) and The Royal Opera (Eugene Onegin, La bohème, Die Fledermaus). For The Royal Ballet she designed Enigma Variations, A Month in the Country and The Nutcracker. Elected Royal Designer for Industry (1977), she was made a CBE (1986) and awarded an Hon. DLitt (1987). She died in 2003.
