Huey Benjamin
Huey Benjamin
From 1978-2003 he worked as a session and touring musician with many of Australia's top recording artists and bands of the day as a drummer. During this period he appeared at many top international music festivals and events, as well as performing on several chart hits in Australia and internationally.
Huey has composed the score for three of Narelle Benjamin's stage works Inside Out (2004) Out of Water (2005) for the Onextra Dance Company and Gossamer (2006) for the Sydney Dance Company. He has also produced edited and composed the short dance films Arachne (2001) and On a Wing and a Prayer (2003), and co-produced and composed The Shape of Water for the ABC. All these films were choreographed by Narelle Benjamin. Huey also produced, directed & composed the SBS documentary Surfing The Healing Wave (2000).
He also co conceived and co-produced UNIFIED, a UNICEF fundraising event at the Sydney Opera House in 2006 featuring The Australian Ballet, Bangarra Dance Theatre, Australian Dance Theatre, The Sydney Dance Company, Lucy Guerin Inc. and Chunky Move.
Living in Bondi Beach, Sydney, with his wife, 2 children, and 3 cats, Huey is currently completing his Masters of Environmental Management degree at the University of NSW.
