Born in Malibu, California, Maureya Lebowitz trained with Paige Harlen before joining the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, Canada, from which she graduated in 2007. She joined Royal Winnipeg Ballet the same year, and became the youngest dancer in the Company's history to perform the title role in Rudi van Dantzig's Romeo and Juliet. She danced three other lead roles in her first two years with the Company and was promoted to Second Soloist. She was a finalist in the 2007 New York City Youth American Grand Prix Competition. She joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in June 2011 and her repertory includes: The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy), Pineapple Poll (Blanche), Lyric Pieces ('Elves' Dance') and Far from the Madding Crowd (Fanny Robin).
