Tzu-Chao Chou
Born in Taiwan, Tzu-Chao Chou trained at the Australian
Ballet School and joined The Australian Ballet on graduating in 2004. His repertory included First Red Knight
in Ninette de Valois’ Checkmate, First Movement Principal in Kenneth MacMillan’s
Concerto, Franz in Peggy van Praagh’s Coppélia, Bluebird / Prince Florimund in
Stanton Welch’s The Sleeping Beauty, Wayne McGregor’s Dyad 1929, Petal Miller
Ashmole’s La Favorita and August Bournonville’s Flower Festival in Genzano. He
has performed Le Spectre de la rose as a guest artist with English National Ballet and Dance for
Fall, New York. His awards include: Christine Marie Johnson Maple-Brown scholarship, 2009; The Australian
Ballet Society Scholarship, 2004; and Asian Pacific International Ballet Competition, Gold medallist 2003. He
joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2011; First Soloist, 2012, and his repertory includes The
Nutcracker (Prince), La Fille mal gardée (Alain), Symphonic Variations,
Beauty and the Beast (Raven) and The Dream (Puck).
