Delia Mathews



Delia Mathews was born in New Zealand and trained with Prue and Debbie Gooch, and at Dance Education Centre and the Royal Ballet School. She is a Laureate of the 2007 Prix de Lausanne and received the Dame Ninette de Valois Award (2008). She joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2008; First Artist, 2012, and her repertory includes Swan Lake (Odette/Odile, Big Swans) Cinderella (Cinderella, ‘Winter’) The Nutcracker (Sugar Plum Fairy), Pavane pas de deux, Elite Syncopations ('Bethena Concert Waltz'), Coppélia (‘Prayer’), Galanteries and The Dream (Hermia).

AWARDS
Alana Haines Australasian Award, 2005; second place, Young British Dancer of the Year, 2006, 2007); Jury's Special Award, Beijing Ballet Dance Schools' Invitational, 2006; Prix de Lausanne Laureate, 2007; Dame Ninette de Valois Award, 2008.
