James Ham



James Ham, Conducting Fellow, BBC Performing Arts Fund, studied conducting at the St Petersburg Conservatory. Orchestras he has recently conducted in concerts and masterclasses include the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, Jena Philharmonic, Orquestra do Algarve, Berliner Camerata, Georges Enescu Philharmonic Bucharest, New London Orchestra, Bombay Chamber Orchestra, Birmingham Junior Conservatoire Symphony Orchestra, St Petersburg State Conservatory Orchestra and the Apollo Sinfonia. In 2012, he was invited by the London Symphony Orchestra, as one of three conductors, to participate in a public masterclass with Sir Colin Davis, and in 2011 he was personally selected by Kristjan Järvi as Assistant Conductor to the Baltic Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.

Prior to his studies in Russia, James held teaching posts at Birmingham University and the Birmingham Junior Conservatoire. He completed his undergraduate degree in music at Birmingham University and subsequently received a full research scholarship for an MPhil, which he completed in 2007.
