Natalia Goncharova
Natalia Goncharova was born in Moscow but spent much of her adult life
in Paris, where she died in 1962. For the Diaghilev Company she designed
Fokine's Le Coq d'or, Liturgie (not realised), Nijinska's Renard (with
her husband Larionov), Les Noces and Une Nuit sur le mont chauve and the
1926 revival of Fokine's The Firebird (reproduced for Sadler's Wells Ballet,
now The Royal Ballet, 1956). She also designed Fokine's Ygrouchka in New York
and Cendrillon in London; for Serge Lifar she designed Sur le Borysthène
in Paris and for Massine, Bogatyri in New York.
