Natalia Goncharova

Natalia Goncharova was born in Moscow but spent much of her adult life in Paris, where she died in 1962. For the Diaghilev Company she designed Fokine's Le Coq d'or, Liturgie (not realised), Nijinska's Renard (with her husband Larionov), Les Noces and Une Nuit sur le mont chauve and the 1926 revival of Fokine's The Firebird (reproduced for Sadler's Wells Ballet, now The Royal Ballet, 1956). She also designed Fokine's Ygrouchka in New York and Cendrillon in London; for Serge Lifar she designed Sur le Borysthène in Paris and for Massine, Bogatyri in New York.
