Robert Gibbs (Leader)
Born in London, Robert Gibbs, Leader, studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School
and the Royal College of Music, winning the gold medal. He joined the Royal
Ballet Sinfonia as Co-leader in 1994, Leader, 1998. He has regularly
appeared as a soloist throughout the UK and Japan, and in Europe, the Far
East and the Americas. His recordings include the violin and piano works of
Arnold Bax, and W.H. Reed, and, as a member of the Carl Flesch Quartet,
works by Mozart, Brahms, Korngold, Rawsthorne and Rocza. He was the soloist
for Vivaldi's The Four Seasons and Stravinsky's Violin Concerto in D
for BRB, pieces by Kreisler, Massenet and
Ravel for The Royal Ballet, and Stravinsky and Bach for New York City Ballet
(Edinburgh Festival) and Dance Theatre of Harlem. He is also leader of the
London Festival Orchestra, and guest leader for the Royal Opera House,
Netherlands Ballet, BBC Philharmonic, New Queenıs Hall, Tokyo New City
Symphony, and Sapporo Symphony orchestras, as well as the Osaka Opera,
Kyushsu Symphony and Komaki-Shi orchestras for K Ballet.
