Patricia Tierney



Born in Leicester, Patricia Tierney, Dance Notator, studied at the Bush Davies School, the Rambert Academy and the Benesh Institute.She joined the Hamburg Ballet as Choreologist under the direction of John Neumeier in 1987, notating where She also choreographed in the Young Choreographers programme. She has staged Neumeier's ballets in the USA and Europe. In 1992 she returned to England and joined English National Ballet as choreologist notating new ballets by Wayne Sleep and Olga Roriz. She also assisted on ballets by Glen Tetley and Ben Stevenson. She joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 1993 as Dance Notator. She has notated and assisted in rehearsals of new ballets from Bintley, Welch, Kudelka, Brandstrup and Siddiqui, as well as revivals of works by Ashton, Balanchine, Cranko, Wright, MacMillan, Tharp and van Manen. She has assisted David Bintley with the staging of Carmina burana in Tokyo. Since 2009, she has taught the Benesh Movement Notation course 'Score reading for dancers' to Elmhurst School for Dance Upper School students.
