Barry Wordsworth



Barry Wordsworth, Music Director, was appointed Principal Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra in 1989 and is Principal Conductor of the Brighton PO. He has appeared at the Proms each year since 1989 and in 1993 he conducted the last night. He was appointed Assistant Conductor of the Royal Ballet's Touring Orchestra in 1973 and within a year was made Principal Conductor of Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet. From 1991 he was Music Director of the Royal Ballet Companies. For The Royal Opera he has conducted Carmen and Don Giovanni. He won the 1994 Evening Standard Award for his outstanding creative contribution to ballet.
