The Dance House

What's it about?
'Or young or old, or high or low, Ye all must to the dance house go!'

Taking inspiration from a medieval poem and woodcut depicting the 'Danse macabre', Bintley's second piece in the programme was prompted by the early death of a friend and colleague who was a dancer. Despite its light, witty tone, Shostakovich's music has darker resonances, which Bintley fully explores in this poignant re-interpretation of the 'Dance of Death'.
