Paul Murphy



Born in Northern Ireland, Paul Murphy, Principal Conductor, studied conducting, viola and singing at the Royal Academy of Music. He joined BRB as Conductor in 1992 and was appointed Principal Conductor in 1997. Since 1994 he has been a regular guest conductor with The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden. He has toured extensively with both companies. He has also conducted for New York City Ballet, Dutch National Ballet and the Royal Ballet of Flanders. Away from the theatre he appears as a guest conductor with the New Queenıs Hall Orchestra, Ulster Orchestra, Hallé, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orchestra of Opera North. He has also recently recorded a CD of British Light Music with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
