Autumn 2005 mixed bill( Solitaire | Checkmate | The Lady and the Fool )
Three ballets from leading 20th-century choreographers. In Ninette de
Valois' Checkmate the beautiful Black Queen mercilessly sweeps aside all
opponents. Cranko's highly romantic Lady and the Fool allows true love to
triumph against all odds. MacMillan's wistful Solitaire sees a young girl
remain an outsider despite concerted attempts to be accepted. |
