Plymouth autumn season announced
27 February 2007
Tickets for Birmingham Royal Ballet's autumn 2007 season at the Plymouth Theare Royal go on sale on Monday 2 April.
The Company performs David Bintley's full-length drama Edward II (Tuesday 23 - Thursday 25 October) and a mixed programme featuring Paquita, Daphnis and Chloë and Twyla Tharp's Nine Sinatra Songs (Friday 26 - Saturday 27 October). Additional matinee performances are on the Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.
The mixed bill offers a taste of the three strands of BRB's work: the classical 19th-century; the Company's own 20th-century heritage; and the creative forces of modern ballet. Edward II - with its story of infatuation, violence and jealousy, a score influenced by rock, jazz and classical music, and costumes designed by Jasper Conran - has the power to completely change your perception of ballet.
'Edward II is a triumph, a ballet drama of sweeping and chilling scale that showers credit on everyone involved' - The Daily Telegraph
'Passion, seduction, sequins, glamour and wit all add up to an acrobatic, dizzy modern dance extravaganza' - The Stage reviewing Nine Sinatra Songs
