Primary Education

Primary projects are often inspired by the ‘story’ ballets such as Coppélia, The Sleeping Beauty, and Hobson’s Choice.

The children are introduced to the ballet, its story, characters, music and steps and encouraged to develop their own interpretations that can be shared with the group or to the wider school. Projects can be linked to school topics and provide inspiration for many cross-curricular activities. Story guides, posters and a variety of other resources can be provided to compliment the workshops. Artists can deliver a maximum of three workshops during the day each lasting from one to one and a half hours depending on the age of the children.

Projects are timed to coincide with the companies performances, groups are encouraged to attend a matinee performance as this is an exciting way to consolidate the learning that has taken place and is an opportunity of a life time for many children. Schools discounts are available for matinee performances and tickets need to be booked directly through the theatre box office.

'This was a fantastic opportunity which allowed the children to be creative and produce something they were obviously proud of.' Teacher, St Luke’s CE Primary, Salford
