Our 2007–08 season is a splendid showcase for the full range of BRB’s work.
We pay homage to Russia with three of the all-time great classical ballets, The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Giselle, and the glorious final act of Marius Petipa's Paquita as part of our autumn mixed bill. The Company's own heritage is strongly represented by the acquisition of Sir Frederick Ashton's Daphnis and Chloë, a major coup and an exciting challenge. Created for The Royal Ballet in 1951 to Ravel's bewitching score, this will be the first opportunity for Birmingham audiences to enjoy this tender tale of the shepherd Daphnis and his love for Chloë. Spring sees a new jazz programme, with the return of The Shakespeare Suite and The Orpheus Suite and the first Birmingham performances of Take Five. The season concludes in July 2008 with another instalment in our tribute to Stravinsky, including the return to the Company's repertory after over a decade of Petrushka and Card Game, and a new Baiser de la fée from Michael Corder, designed by the illustrious John F. Macfarlane. Find out more by following the links on this page... |
