Costume Department work experience

What we do
Our Costume Department prepares and maintains costumes for all our productions. The department supervises new productions and the making of some new and revival costumes, although the majority of costumes and accessories for new productions are made outside the company.

About the placement
We offer work experience placements to students wishing to pursue a career in costume. During the placement, you’ll help in the preparation and alteration of costumes to get them ready them for performances. You may also contribute to the construction of costumes, and to the supervision or organisation of costume information. You’ll apply and improve on your existing skills during your placement – while also gaining experience as a fully involved member of a professional workroom environment.

Requirements
Applicants for work experience in the Costume Department must be aged 18+ and in the second year of a recognised or relevant costume course. In order to qualify for a placement in our workroom, you must be willing to attend an interview and be able to show evidence of good hand sewing and machine sewing skills.

Duration
Placements are for a maximum of five days, 10am–5.30pm daily.
