In late April we ran a dance session, led by Soloist Laura Purkiss, with children from Birmingham Children's Hospital as part of their Sports for All project.
Young people aged between five and 15 took part in a two-hour session, which included a ballet class and the chance to try on costumes and ask Laura questions.
"The children's energy and will to do it was just amazing. They all coped really well."
Cory, a participant:
"It was really nice, a unique opportunity and I really enjoyed it."
Organised by the Children’s Hospital Neuro-oncology team, which cares for around 50 newly diagnosed young people each year, the Sports for All sessions are designed to offer an accessible route into physical activity for children who have various physical and cognitive impairments due to their conditions.
