Caroline Miller OBE appointed as Interim CEO of Birmingham Royal Ballet

We're pleased to announce today Caroline Miller OBE has joined the Company as Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for 12 months. Miller joins us as we continue our successful 2017/18 season with 130 performances being given in total across England and Wales as well as embarking on an international tour to Virginia (USA) and Nishimomiya, Shiga, Nagoya and Tokyo (Japan) from April. 

Professor Michael Clarke, Chair said: “On behalf of the board I am delighted to welcome Caroline Miller to Birmingham Royal Ballet. Caroline is an experienced and highly regarded dance professional with a long track record of achievement. She will work closely with David Bintley CBE and other colleagues to begin delivery of a new ambitious strategy as set out in the Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation funding application and business plan.”

On her appointment Caroline said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Birmingham Royal Ballet and to be working alongside such great artistic and administrative talent. To join David Bintley and the entire Company at this exciting moment when Birmingham's dance scene is rapidly developing with the new Dance Hub is a privilege.”

Caroline’s most recent position was Executive Director of Orlando Ballet in the USA. Before that she was Director of Dance UK for ten years. Dance UK was the national body representing the professional dance sector. During her tenure she worked closely with Nick Allen at Birmingham Royal Ballet's Jerwood Centre for Prevention and Treatment of Dance Injury to establish the first National Institute of Dance Medicine and Science. She was recognised for this work in the 2014 Evening Standard list of 1000 most influential Londoners and was awarded an OBE for Services to the Arts in 2017. Caroline is currently Vice Chair of Studio Wayne McGregor.
