We are delighted to announce that we taking part in Chinese New Year 2017 on Sunday 29 January 11am-4pm, the largest celebration of its kind in the Midlands. This truly family friendly day features amazing acrobatic and cultural performances, fairground rides, workshops and traditional market stalls.
Come and visit us in Birmingham Royal Ballet's studios from 12pm-3:45pm, where we will be delivering demonstrations about the art of ballet, offering the opportunity to try on costumes and teaching two of our favourite pieces of dance. Grown ups can try the dramatic ballroom scene from Romeo & Juliet, whilst younger guests will love the chicken dance from La Fille Mal Gardée (very appropriate for the Year of the Rooster.)
Two of our dancers, First Soloist Tzu-Chao Chou and Soloist Yaoqian Shang, will be performing a pas de deux from Coppélia on the main stage, located under the Hurst Street bridge.
You can also come and say hello at our market stall on Hurst Street, where we will have information about upcoming events and some Chinese New Year treats.
Chinese New Year has become one of the most widely celebrated festivals in Birmingham’s calendar, welcoming all communities to join in the fun.
We hope to see you there, and wish you a Happy Chinese New Year of the Rooster.
