Pamela Hawkins

LEAP Ambassador 2021/22

Age: 17

From: Banbury, Oxfordshire

I am currently: Studying Maths, Physics and Biology at A-Level. I am an Advanced Royal Ballet Associate in London.

I am a LEAP Ambassador because: After the peak of the pandemic I want to help rebuild everyone's love for the theatre and be part of the productions in any way possible. Dancing the lead role, Cinderella, in Birmingham Royal Ballet's first Dreams Project in 2017 was the start of my love and commitment for the Company. It was a magical moment for me and I would love to relive this time through helping young dancers audition, train and learn, to guarantee they had the same amazing experience I had. Ultimately, I’ve learned a lot from being a dancer, self-analysis, self-improvement and self-discipline, but I am looking for the next step where I can continue to grow and use the skills I have honed to contribute to a company I love, and this opportunity seems to be the perfect fit.

What are you passionate about: Classical ballet of course! I also love Maths and Textiles but lately I really enjoy attending spin classes at my local gym.

Interesting fact about me: At the age of 12, my passion for ballet and textiles led me to launch my own business @pameladaisy designing ballet wrap skirts. In my first year, I sold over 500!

First encounter with Birmingham Royal Ballet: Training with the Royal Ballet as a Junior Associate in Birmingham Royal Ballet's studios. Additionally, through LEAP’s Dreams projects I’ve worked with Elisha Willis (former Principal) in Costume and danced alongside Karla Doorbar, Lachlan Monaghan, Yvette Knight and Edivaldo Souza de Silva.
