Whisk your students to the ballet sensation of 2027.
The Maiden of Venice, Carlos Acosta's latest production, hits theatres across the country in spring 2027. A spectacular reimagining of La Bayadère that you don’t want to miss!
The action whisks you off to Renaissance Venice rather than the original Indian setting. All with a new version of the original 19th-century score, played live by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia.
The ballet’s accessible themes love, lust, power, betrayal and murder are explored without words through movement, music, character, staging, costume and lighting.
Those interested in dance, performing arts, and drama can see how historic work is interpreted for contemporary audiences. Experiencing a reworking of a historical ballet can support discussions around choreographic intent and critical appreciation of professional work.
Those interested in a design, music or backstage career will witness many different creative disciplines working together.
Anna Fleischle’s set and costume design, Lucy Carter’s lighting, and Gavin Sutherland’s reworking of Minkus’s score all blend together to form a multi-sensory masterpiece.
