Our access performances

We present several different types of access performance:

Audio described: Audio description is a live verbal commentary on the visual elements of a production as it unfolds. The description gives the information that a visually impaired person might miss. We offer audio description at selected Saturday matinee performances.

Touch tour: We also offer Saturday morning touch tours to complement these audio described performances, offering the chance to get up close and personal with the costumes, sets and props that bring our ballets alive. With the help of our Stage Management team, our Audio Describer will give you a hands-on guided tour. You’ll get to go on stage to experience the sets and props, and backstage into the dressing rooms to get a real feel for the beautiful costumes. Touch tours must be booked in advance through ticket sales.

Signed performances: We present signed performances for the benefit of all those who use sign language. Trained describers stand at the side of the stage and interpret the performance and language used by the performers as it unfolds.
