Bringing our dancers to life
Bringing our dancers to life
We're delighted to be working with This Great Adventure on their groundbreaking immersive arts project and AR platform OPUS, reimagining how to create, share and experience performing arts and culture.
Using reality capture, OPUS produces 3D holograms of real people and places them back in real world locations, transforming places into stages for digital human performance.
Their vision is simple: Anyone. Anywhere. Anytime.
Designed for immersive arts, culture and storytelling, OPUS offers new ways for creators, cultural institutions, and organisations to engage audiences, expand their reach, and generate revenue through immersive, interactive storytelling in augmented reality.
Stage 1: The Nutcracker
In October 2024 we travelled to Portsmouth with a small group of dancers to capture some short excerpts of dance. Once the OPUS app (iOS only initially) is live in early November audiences will be able to download and access the first bit of specially created content.
Then for those visiting Birmingham Hippodrome for The Nutcracker there will be two opportunities to bring our dancers to life: from the poster on the front of the theatre (until 7 December) and inside the printed programme (on sale at all performances).
The Opus - The Next Stage app can now be downloaded from the App Store.
