About Sylvia

Using a new prologue, David Bintley contextualises the traditional story of Sylvia, making it more comprehensible and relevant to the modern audience. The main body of the ballet becomes a morality tale in which all the guests at a 1950s party are sent back in time to Ancient Rome by the mischievous Eros, in disguise as the gardener. Under Eros' ever-present guiding (and often comical) hand, the bickering Count and Countess go on to learn the true value of love.
