The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2023
Tuesday 28 November – Tuesday 5 December 2023
Your support will help us restore the wonderful costumes of Sir Peter Wright’s beautiful production of The Sleeping Beauty – a jewel in the crown of Birmingham Royal Ballet’s repertoire. The costumes are nearly 40 years old – and are in urgent need of repair, restoration or in some cases, to be completely re-made.
This production has been enjoyed by millions of people since it was first created nearly 40 years ago, and for many it is their first experience of classical ballet. By supporting our 2023 Christmas Big Give campaign you will help us restore the costumes and tutus to their original splendour ahead of our performances in 2024. We invite you to join us in supporting this timeless classic so its magic can continue to inspire, dazzle and delight audiences well into the future. The Big Give Christmas challenge is a once a year opportunity for donors to offer their support to charities across the UK through a match funding campaign.
How will your support make a difference?
Raising £60,000 would restore 200 smaller costume items such as:
- Tiaras, headdresses, hats and masks
- Sections of beading and embellishment
- Buttons, zips, clasps and lacework
- Neckties and ruffs
Did you know? It will take a skilled costume technician 3 hours to restore one area of damage on these costume items – so please dig deep to help the restoration continue!
How to support the Big Give Christmas Challenge
Make a donation online by debit or credit card between 12 noon on Tuesday 28 November and 12 noon on Tuesday 5 December 2023 by visiting brb.org.uk/BigGive and following the instructions on the page.
