About BRB Next Gen Associate Auditions
BRB’s Next Gen Associates is an exciting brand-new associate programme for aspiring young dancers run by Birmingham Royal Ballet.
Supporting young dance students in the period between leaving primary school and potentially starting full-time vocational training, this is a unique opportunity to train with professional ballet dancers whilst gaining a rare insight into a world-class ballet company.
Next Gen Associates sessions take place on Sundays in Birmingham once every half term. Each session includes a ballet/repertoire class and a personal development class.
We are holding auditions for the inaugural year on Saturday 30 May 2026. The cost for an audition is £15.
Audition slots are as follows:
Girls (and non-binary)
10.15am-11.45: Students starting Years 7-9 in September
12 noon-1.30pm: Students starting Years 10-13 in September
Boys (and non-binary)
2-3.30pm: Students starting Years 7-9 in September
3.45pm-5.15: Students starting Years 10-13 in September
Audition Requirements:
- Knowledge and understanding of ballet and ballet technique
- Desire to develop further as a dancer
- Commitment to the programme and maintained attendance
- There are no location requirements to apply for the NGA programme
- If you are attending full-time vocational training, please gain permission from your school
- Please bring your pointe shoes if you are working en pointe.
- Students starting Years 7-9 in September must have achieved ballet grade 2 or above
- Students starting Years 10-13 in September must have achieved ballet grade 4 or above
The Next Gen Associates programme costs £375 for the school year, some bursaries are available.
