Edward Kemp is a writer, director, dramaturg and translator. Since 2008 he has been Director of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Collaborations with Cathy Marston include Lady Chatterley’s Lover (Grands Ballets Canadiens), Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Royal Danish Ballet), Ghosts, Echo and Narcissus (ROH2), A Tale of Two Cities (Northern Ballet Theatre), Blood Wedding (Helsinki Ballet), Firebird, Juliet and Romeo, Wuthering Heights, Ein Winternachtstraum, Clara, Hexenhatz (Bern Ballet). He has written text for Julian Philips’s How the Whale Became (ROH) and The Yellow Sofa (Glyndebourne), Victoria Borisova Ollas’s The Ground Beneath Her Feet (Manchester Festival), Jason Carr’s Six Pictures of Lee Miller (Chichester), Prokofiev’s Ivan the Terrible (BBC Proms). He has also worked extensively on plays and adaptations and as a director. Future plans include new ballets with Cathy Marston for the Royal Ballet and San Francisco Ballet.
