Following his training at The Australian Ballet School, Jack Lister (choreographer of A Brief Nostalgia) joined Queensland Ballet in 2014 and has danced featured roles in works by Christopher Bruce, Nils Christe, Liam Scarlett, Jiri Kylian, Derek Deane, Trey McIntyre and Natalie Weir. After creating his first ballet for Queensland Ballet in 2015, Jack quickly established a name as a respected emerging choreographer and has created a new work for QB’s annual program each year since. In 2017, he was long listed for an Australian Dance Award for his work Fonder Heart, and created his first main stage work, Rational/Animal as part of Queensland Ballet’s inaugural Bespoke season to critical acclaim. His Still Life, for Queensland Ballet’s Dance Dialogues (2017) was recently remounted for the International Ballet Gala XXVII in Dortmund, Germany. Most recently, his B-SIDES for Queensland Ballet’s 2018 Bespoke season was met with critical acclaim, recognised in The Australian as ’a young choreographer who is going places.’ Jack was a finalist in the Beijing International Ballet and Choreography Competition, where he will present two of his works.
