Jean-Marc designs sets and costumes for opera, theatre, dance and musicals. He trained at Motley and studied Art History in La Sorbonne and gave talks about his work at the Victoria & Albert and Guggenheim Museums. Several productions he designed were nominated and have won Olivier Awards, South Bank Show Awards, Critics Circle Awards and TMA Awards. He creates original designs for Royal Opera, Santa Fe Opera, Scottish Opera, Royal Academy Opera, Menier Chocolate Factory, Finborough Theatre, Royal Ballet, New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Birmingham Royal Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, Phoenix Dance Theatre, Mannheim National theater Ballet, Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, Opéra du Rhin Ballet on commissions by David McVicar, Mitch Sebastian, Lee Blakeley, Ché Walker, Walter Meierjohann, David Bintley, Christopher Wheeldon, Javier de Frutos, Karole Armitage, Dominique Dumais, Kevin O'Day, Ken Ossola, Arthur Pita, Cathy Marston, Adrian Burnett, Maina Gielgud, Marcia Haydée.

Jean-Marc's career began as a dancer, studying ballet at the Paris Opera School and Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris. A professional dancer with Birmingham Royal Ballet and Stuttgart Ballet, he danced and created roles in classical, neo-classical and contemporary repertoires. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Dance Umbrella. Last updated March 2012
