Mark Jonathan (lighting designer of Giselle) works extensively in drama, opera, ballet, musicals and arena productions both in the UK and world-wide. His extensive work with Birmingham Royal Ballet includes Far from the Madding Crowd, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Sylvia, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, The Two Pigeons, Cyrano, Powder and The Protecting Veil, while his other dance designs include contemporary and classical works for The Royal Ballet, Northern Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, Houston Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Berlin Staatsballett, Stuttgarter Ballett, Ballet Capitole de Toulouse, London Children’s Ballet and The National Ballet of Japan. He was Head of Lighting at the Royal National Theatre, London, for ten years before embarking on a freelance career. In 2013 he was selected as a finalist in the World Stage Design and in 2014 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
