Oona Lamont
Age: 18
Where are you from? I was born in LA, but I’ve lived in Birmingham since I was two.
I am currently… in my last year of sixth form studying English literature, geography, and German at A-level.
I am on the Creative Pathways Programme because… I aim to work in the theatre or film industry, and the programme is the perfect opportunity for me to gain the experience I need to apply for apprenticeships and university. By taking part in
the programme I’m hoping to have something to look forward to, a fun time, and to get to know lots of like-minded people!
What are you passionate about? Creative projects like making short films and digital art and also taking my grade 8 trumpet which I’ve been working on for an embarrassingly long time. I’m also passionate about watching as many movies as I can while successfully making it to the end of year 13 and stopping climate change.
An interesting fact about me is… in 2023 I was runner up in my category of the Oxford German Olympiad for which I made a presentation personifying different types of bread.
My first encounter with Birmingham Royal Ballet was… probably this programme! It's been an amazing first encounter so far!
What’s your favourite landscape? My favourite landscape is salt marshes because they can contain up to 2000 snails per square meter which is terrifying! And they store a lot of carbon which is good, and they’re at the seaside.
