Paul Englishby made his Birmingham Royal Ballet debut as Composer for Daniela Cardim's Imminent, part of the 2021 Curated by Carlos season.

Paul Englishby is a prolific and versatile composer, producing critically acclaimed scores for Film, Theatre, TV, Dance and the Concert Hall. He is best known for his thrillingly tense scores for BBC’s Luther series starring Idris Elba, which earned him a BAFTA nomination; his Emmy Award-winning jazz inflected music to David Hare’s Page Eight; his music for BBC’s The Musketeers; his beautiful orchestral score to the Oscar- nominated An Education; as well as his many scores for the Royal Shakespeare Company with whom Paul is an Associate Artist. Recent scores include: The Inheritance for the Young Vic, West End and Broadway (, The Witness For The Prosecution (Ivor Novello Nominee), Decline and Fall for BBC1, Pinocchio, a ballet for National Ballet of Canada choreographed by Will Tuckett, Imperium and The Tempest for the RSC, the Feature film A Royal Night Out and the plays The Audience and Skylight, which were sell out successes in the West End and on Broadway.

Paul studied composition at both Goldsmiths' College and at The Royal Academy of Music where he received the coveted Charles Lucas Prize for composition. He was recently made an Associate of The Royal Academy (ARAM). His broad concert repertoire includes Orchestral and Chamber works, a Violin Concerto, String Quartet, an Oratorio, and pieces for community and school performance.In dance and ballet Paul’s work includes the critically acclaimed The Thief of Baghdad and Pleasure's Progress for the Royal Opera House, both choreographed by Will Tuckett.
